A Confidential Place to Practise: Consulting Room Hire in Thirsk
YouR Counselling Space · 56 Market Place, Thirsk YO7 1LW · 3 min read
Choosing where to see your clients is one of the quieter decisions in private practice, but it shapes more than people expect. It affects how settled you feel in your working day, and just as much, how safe your clients feel from the moment they arrive. This post looks at what we offer practitioners at YRCS in Thirsk: three furnished consulting rooms, a genuinely confidential way of welcoming clients, and simple terms with no fee split.
A genuinely confidential arrival
Most shared therapy spaces ask clients to sit together in a communal waiting area. We have chosen not to work that way. There is no shared waiting room here. Each client is let in and seen out by their own clinician, so no one waits alongside, or passes, anybody else's client.
For people coming for sensitive work — and that is most of the people we all see — this matters more than it might first appear. It removes the small but real risk of being recognised, and it lets you hold the whole arc of a session, from the door to the goodbye, with the discretion the work deserves.
Three rooms, and space for groups
We have three consulting rooms, two on the ground floor and one upstairs, each furnished and ready to work in. Alongside them there is a staff kitchen for making a drink between clients, two WCs, and a large event space suitable for groups, workshops and training. The building sits in the centre of Thirsk's Market Place, with the town's parking, cafés and transport close by.
Simple, transparent terms
We work on a flat licence model. You pay for the room, and your fee income stays entirely your own — there is no percentage split and no commission on your client work.
£50 per session block.
One-month minimum hire.
One month's notice to end.
No fee split — what you earn is yours.
Who the rooms suit
The space works well for private practitioners across the talking therapies and beyond: counsellors and psychotherapists, coaches, supervisors, and others who need a confidential, professional setting on a regular basis. The event space also suits anyone running groups, workshops or training who would value a venue that already understands confidential practice.
The building is already home to practitioners working across different days and approaches, and there is room for a few more. If a regular room day would help your practice, or you would simply like to come and see the space, you would be very welcome to get in touch.
