FAQs
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that helps individuals explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe, confidential space. It can support you through emotional challenges, deepen self-awareness, and foster personal growth.
How long is each session?
Sessions typically last 60 minutes for individual session and 90 minutes for couples. Some therapists offer extended sessions depending on your needs—this can be discussed during your initial consultation.
How often will I need to attend?
Most clients attend weekly, but frequency can vary based on your goals and circumstances. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that suits you. We are also able to offer bespoke services in some circumstances.
How much does it cost?
Fees vary depending on the therapist’s experience and location. Concessions may be available for students or those on low income. Please check the Services page or contact us directly for details.
Can I use private health insurance?
Some therapists are registered with private health insurers. If you’d like to use insurance, let us know and we’ll help you navigate the process.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of psychotherapy. There are rare exceptions—such as risk of serious harm—where therapists are legally required to break confidentiality, but this will be discussed with you clearly.
Do you offer online therapy?
Absolutely. Many therapists offer secure video sessions, which can be a flexible and accessible option. You’ll receive the same level of care and confidentiality as in-person sessions.
How do I choose the right therapist?
It’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with. You might want to consider their approach, experience, and whether they specialise in areas relevant to you. Most therapists offer an initial consultation to help you decide.
What issues can therapy help with?
Therapy can support a wide range of concerns, including:
• Anxiety and depression
• Relationship difficulties
• Trauma and loss
• Low self-esteem
• Life transitions
• Identity and purpose
Are your therapists qualified?
Yes. All therapists listed on our site are professionally trained, insured, and registered with recognised UK bodies such as BACP, UKCP, or NCS
