Lots of change has been coming to The Safhill household in the last month, some of it welcome, some inevitable. It has felt a bit overwhelming at times, the endless to do list, a bit of fear around change and the added requirements in to an already full day.
I stopped my busy thoughts over the weekend and i just wondered how i would feel about some of these changes if I didn't have the narrative of tired and busy. How would a child react? Or a teenager? Which parts of myself were being spoken and to and speaking back?
I decided to take a little control of my own narrative and reframe the coming changes to 'exciting' and 'fun', and it seems to have really worked. I woke up this morning and my dog walk seemed more beautiful (love the autumn colours) and the emerging opportunities for myself and my family feel exciting rather than terrifying.
I am being a realist, trying to be honest and not every thing is positive! There will be some requirements and any trip into the unknown will give my heart a bit of a flutter but it has been a great reminder of the effects of the stories we tell ourselves. Our words matter, especially those which we tell ourselves.
